After a battling and brave performance Galway are unluckily out of this years Senior Hurling Championship. We are all very disappointed but especially for the players who gave 100% on the field. We could ask for no more and I know the team management share our frustration of 2 tight quarter-final defeats in 2009/2010. Both could and probably should have been won. I remain convinced however that the seeds of victory are in place with the current team and management. Sure they need to make some changes and strengthen the team but now is the time when you the fans need to support the team and give them the encouragement to drive on towards glory in 2011.

There is a huge depth of talent in Galway Hurling and it is emerging. I would say to the team, stick together, no early announcements of retirement and be positive in your belief that 2011 will be your year. To John McIntyre the message is simple, the team, the fans and the clubs fully support you and your management so get planning towards winning the McCarthy Cup, for Galway, in 2011.

Meanwhile don’t forget that we have many fine Galway teams still in the championships at various grades. Come out and support them.
