Captain's Blog 20 May 2011

This week we resumed training with the Galway squad. We had a few weeks off after the Waterford game to go back with our clubs as the 2011 club championship kicked off.

It was disappointing not to make it to the league final but that is in the past now and all the focus is on the 4th of June when we start the Leinster Championship. The Leinster championship is very competitive & with Dublin winning the league final they are most peoples fancy to reach the Leinster final in early July. We play either Westmeath or Carlow on June 4th with the winners going on to play either Dublin or Offaly on June 18th. Championship is what it's all about & we are really looking forward to getting started. From training point of view we realise there is a mountain of work but to do and we intend to work as hard and as honest as possible in the coming weeks to get ready for the battles ahead.

We have picked up some injuries in recent weeks and the medical team are working hard to get lads right - hopefully most of the lads will be available for the 4th. There is another round of club championship next weekend so we are back to the clubs for most of the coming week. From then on it’s back full time with Galway and looking forward to the championship.
